About Lactation Care, Inc.
Breastfeeding is best for you and best for your baby!
Although it is natural, breastfeeding is not automatic. We find that the more information and resources parents have, the easier breastfeeding can be!
We are here to help improve your breastfeeding experience
Despite the many benefits of breastfeeding, many mothers discontinue nursing because of problems, lack of support and information. Lactation Care, Inc., a small, woman-owned business (thank you for considering our services!) was founded to provide support and solutions for breastfeeding difficulties in a caring and effective manner.
We do this by providing classes, one-on-one breastfeeding consultations and telephone support, and by supplying breastpumps and accessories (nursing pillows, slings, etc.), as needed, with instruction for proper use.
We receive referrals from pediatric and obstetric offices, as well as self-referrals. We also are available for health-care staff training and professional conferences.
Lactation Care Helps Families
Every mother has different needs, and we are sensitive to the concerns of parents, while at the same time offering information to help them make informed decisions. We hope that you will call us if we can be of service to you and your family. Thank you for sharing our name with other pregnant and nursing mothers—we very much appreciate your referrals. We wish you much happiness as you grow in mothering!

Who we are...
As president and founder of Lactation Care, Inc. Dot has been working with breastfeeding families for over 30 years. She brings a high level of expertise to her consultation work with families and has a special talent for assisting babies with latch and positioning issues. Dot has also done much in our field to educate families as well as other health care workers who serve babies, young children and their parents about the benefits and best practice of breastfeeding. She has taught in a class format, presented at conferences, and conducted information sessions for local physicians and their colleagues. Her strong knowledge base of the art of breastfeeding combined with her gentle touch and finesse with new moms and babies make her a wonderful teacher and ally for those just starting out or struggling with breastfeeding.
After joining our staff 8 years ago with multiple years of experience as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor, Stephanie completed additional training and has been a board certified lactation consultant since 2009. A former English major, with a particular interest in writing, Stephanie helps us in creating and editing print materials and articles as well as our new online blog. Stephanie especially enjoys the phone counselling part of her work at Lactation Care. She can often be found making check in calls to clients or fielding questions on incoming calls. In each call, Stephanie aims to provide encouragement and support and make sure her client feels she has some concrete ideas or strategies to try and use right away.
Danielle draws on her background in nutrition and her training in human lactation to provide evidence-based information and empathic support to breastfeeding families. She reminds and helps our team to support optimal nutrition through breastfeeding for our clients and their babies. Danielle also helps to oversee our rental and insurance pump programs. With her finger on the pulse of pop culture, Danielle has brought us into the age of social media and manages our Facebook account and Blog.
Counselling breastfeeding families and running our business office, Mary has been with Lactation Care, Inc. for close to 20 years. Mary manages our retail inventory and our rental pump program. She has a keen eye for bra fitting and is a pro at helping the expectant or new mom find that bra or tank that fits well and feels good. Mary is a great teacher, a master at breaking things down into small, manageable steps. This comes into play in the day to day workings of the office and in her work counselling clients.
Raechel has provided breastfeeding families with information, counseling and breastfeeding equipment for 20+ years. After managing her own private practice in Pennsylvania, she joined our group in 2003 and is now available to support the families of the greater Boston area. Raechel has a special touch with babies who have passed the newborn period. Her calm manner and love of babies serve to soothe and support mothers and babies alike and allow her to help families consider various options to help them meet their breastfeeding goals.
The newest member of our team, Andrea has been a board certified lactation consultant since 2009 and joined us after several years as a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor and a previous life as a professional chef. A natural Jill-off-all-trades, she wears many hats around the office and enjoys the interdisciplinary aspects of work as an LC. A whiz at coordinating office logistics, she has a knack for managing our office systems and website. With a background in Anthropology and an ear for the unspoken, she particularly enjoys counselling mothers with empathy and humor through the challenging experiences of mothering through breastfeeding in American culture. She helps us all remember to look for the joy and humor in work, life and even in breastfeeding challenges.
Our team is grateful to our (combined) 15 children who were successfully breastfed. They have helped us grow both personally and professionally and inspire us through the joys and challenges of parenting.
